Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How many startups will come out of this?

While the layoffs are bad, I suspect that there will be many startups that come out of this.

I'm talking about engineers who have ideas that were rejected by Intel or who just want to do something on their own but need a metaphorical kick in the pants to take a risk.

Good luck to all, and I hope Intel doesn't have any onerous employment agreements.

There’s no VC money for hardware startups. Think about coffee shops, bakeries or bagels stores. If you want to use your technical knowledge and experience, it’s equipment vendors, TSMC, Samsung or specialty fabs like Bosch in Sacramento. Hasn’t Apple and Google already poached all the good designers?

Share it with others- and above all else (in the words of an iconic member of the pack), “Don’t be encumbered by history- just go out and do something wonderful.”

Thanks for the link.

The history was a fascinating read.

Shockley was kind of nuts. Personality tests!

The State of Oregon does have a Self Employment Assistance program where you can use your unemployment check to start your own business and any profits made does not reduce your unemployment check amount.
