Is this site full of ex-employees? Because I can tell you, everything is going well in Inside Sales. There is no talk of layoffs anytime soon or ever. Customers have not complained one bit about anything. Everybody I know works from home. There’s no back to office date, although we do come into the office periodically. I’ve noticed a lot of speculation and nothing is close to being true.

Did a senior manager just post about everything being rainbows and unicorns? That or they have blinders on! The industry is on a downward spiral. Do you really want to be in an industry that is trying to hold water rather than one that has smooth sailing?
Outsourcing almost always leads to a considerable drop in quality. You get what you pay for. Instructors need to hold them accountable by leaving Cengage.
Gale/Cengage does not care about it's employees for them to lay good working people off to offshore the work is just down right ridiculous. It's gonna come back and bite them in the a-s. I'm expecting to hear it's going out of business any minute now!
Wednesday is not bad, it doesn’t interfere with Hangover Mondays or No Work Fridays.
I think we can safely assume that the return to office mandate has something to do with forcing some workers to quit (which looks better for the company as opposed to layoffs).
With this line of thought, it makes sense why Cengage is outsourcing CM and DPM jobs to India.
At the end of the day, the company just wants to cut costs and become "profitable". Any employee working there is at risk of losing his/her role to an offshore employee (since it's cheaper that way).
"This is unreasonable? "
No one said it is unreasonable. The OP said no one is being asked to return to the office. This is not true. Also, it is quite strange that the company is telling workers it is important to be in the office while, at the same time, outsourcing jobs to India.
“People that live within a 20 mile radius of the Mason OH and Boston MA office have to come to office every Wednesday, starting September, 2024.”
This is unreasonable?

People are losing their jobs left and right, and it's important to acknowledge the harsh reality instead of turning a blind eye to it. You are naive if you believe it won't affect you at some point.
There are no layoffs in Ba Sing Se.
You must be on the Team Team where customers have been self-serve all along. They are used to little or no service and using videos and the 800 number.
Are you not watching the Comings & Goings? People are being laid off at an alarming rate.
