But it still isn’t pleasant. I can’t afford to lose the job now. But I guess I can’t influence the outcome in any way, so I’ll just try to manage anxiety. Good luck to all of you guys, and try to have a nice weekend, if possible.

This company is about to do a huge rebound with the Skydance management team. Once the real Redstone died, its been mismanaged ever since. If you make the cut, be happy for the brighter days ahead. If you get cut, realize how big of a brand this is and work for tech companies or AI start ups. The unions and lockdowns really sc--wed the US film / TV market up, especially in NYC and LA.
When it comes to whether they'll fire expecting, old, etc., if your bosses like you the most, they might be able to find a way to keep you if they are willing to fire similar salaries instead of you (and there are enough of them for the numbers to work). But it's all about the amount of $ they need to reduce in your group. They don't care about discriminatory lawsuits (old, expecting, etc) in mass layoffs the way they would if it was just you. In fact, I'm sure in mass layoffs some of them are motivated by more than just numbers, but it's hard to prove. google expectant mothers tech sector layoffs and you'll find a lot of recent articles on it.
Thank you to all whom have posted. Some consolation to know we aren't alone in our anxiety. Is anyone else finding it incredibly difficult to focus on work tasks
good luck to everyone!
anyone know how common it is to get laid off if you're expecting? so much anxiety. i agree there's never a 'right' time to get let go, but sometimes its way more painful.
for the past few months i just wanted to know WHEN this would happen, and now that we know i just want to know WHO. will try to enjoy the weekend as much as i can, and hope you do as well!
One thing to keep in mind is that everyone who has left this company either on their own or through a pink slip has ended up in a better place and tend to be happier. And how could they not? no longer having to worry about constant layoffs and mismanagement. I've seen this play out countless times. After the initial shock, people say they feel relieved, which I think is telling as to how detrimental this company is on mental health. It's bizarro world... to have THREE "co CEOs" telling investors and employees that they want to get rid of redundancy in positions....I mean...
This is awful, and the repetition of this process is so demeaning and demoralizing. Just know that you are not alone, this is not your fault and a potential negative outcome does not say anything about your professional value. If you do let go, remember severance is always negotiable and you don’t have to sign anything on the spot. Don’t forget that this is a world-class company and having it in your resumé means something and the fact that you have made a contribution here counts a lot in your future job search. Sending lots of love and support. We will all get through this.
