Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I have two interviews set up for next week

I'm ready to take a pay cut just to get away from Intel. The only thing that's giving me pause is leaving right now when there's such a high possibility that I might be laid off. I'd hate to miss out on getting severance. Would I be a fool if I accepted an offer right now? I'm thinking that once layoffs are in full swing, there'll be too many people looking for a job at the same time and things will become even more competitive. I'm honestly not sure what to do.

If this is true, you are just being greedy. What if you pass up a job now and get laid off? The severance isn’t good enough to make that gamble. It won’t be enough to hold you over to the next job offer.

Just work both for awhile. Many Intel jobs take only 4 hours a week now. I'm sure you can squeeze it in.

You will probably know your severance options well in advance of any proposed start date. I hope you get both severance and a new job, these financial boosts in life can make all the difference to your trajectory. I hope it works out and that you save/spend it wisely.

Do the interviews!! What have you got to lose??! If nothing else, it will prepare you for later and get into some practice.
Trust me, none of these high tech companies move fast! It would probably take 3-6 months before you even get an offer!
And who knows? Might be way better than your severance with additional salary and sign on bonuses!
