Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Teradata Cares…About the CEO and ELT

Downright shameful how much they rake in while the ship sinks. The apathetic board just takes their comp for a few hours work each quarter and looks the other way. None of them even know our industry or technology. Would you put any of them in front of a CIO?

SM touted the pipeline in the Q1 call. Then avoided it completely on the q2 call. It’s so much worse than anyone thought. Even the most pessimistic. DEI is bad. But it is not to blame here for those who scapegoat it. It’s just a minor reason in a littany of bad hires at leadership levels. It’s been hard to stay. Hoping for $$ to make me leave. No more. I’m out.

I don't think it's informed at all.

ELT leadership is inept. It shows in the product, customers, sales, support, etc, etc, etc.

PE would buy Teradata in a heartbeat if it was called Snowflake or Databricks.

I think by now everyone should recognize the BoD, while both apathetic and incompetent, is in a box due to the company decline, and so they can't afford to dump this ELT, and in fact seem to have given tacit approval to the ELT to pillage as much as they can. I know the truth isn't popular here, but TDC's headcount has been waaaaay too high given its current revenue and future prospects; even the latest cuts aren't sufficient to get down to a level where anyone would conceive of buying it out. If they had ripped the bandaid off 3 years ago and dropped 3000+ FTEs quickly, as painful as it would have been, survival may have been possible. But they didn't have the cash on hand (it would have cost more than they had), which explains why the RIFs keep dribbling out: they have to collect enough revenue over a few quarters to afford RIF'ing the next batch. So anyone in early or mid career should really be prepping an exit strategy, cuz the RIF's must continue until headcount is low enough for a PE to consider a buyout.
