Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Majority of Dell employees are no longer US based

Will this affect Dell’s ability to land future US Federal contracts?

It appears Dell is spending about the same amount lobbying the US government this year as they did last year so maybe this gets less attention.

Dell Federal is the safest place to be @ Dell in RR. Most managers and employees are white (with one or two token minorities sprinkled into each team just to fulfill HR DEI mandates). Many of the old timers are in Federal -mostly veterans-. You are required to be a US Citizen (they actually ask for your US passport when hired) since you will be on the Dell Federal Network and bidding on gov contracts. I've not heard of any layoffs in Dell Federal.

There are plenty of US people to deal with FED. Not only that but non-US citizens can go through a process to get access if needed.. Maybe not India but South American countries can.

There are less then 30k in USA, and about 12k of them support Fed.

Except for executive, it's an India company.

You Americans are d-mb and cost too much money.

Money earned outside the USA is taxed when it is brought to the USA. This necessitates that money earned outside the USA is spent outside the USA, on sales, marketing, product management, support, IT and engineering.

Federal is a relatively safe place because of this. US citizen on US soil means it really can't be outsourced and people watch over that fairly closely in federal.

That said, I know multiple commercial resources who did fed work who were cut this week.

Dell get big tax breaks in Ireland, The Netherlands, UK that I know of so it makes sense its gets similar breaks in other regions and counties. The US is not the be all and end all.

Dell is a global company. Doesn’t require all employees to be based in US

There’s lots of interest in the No Tax Breaks for Outsourcing Act which would prohibit companies who outsource from using federal tax incentives like tax breaks and federal contracts. In addition, the bill offers a 20% tax credit for companies to bring jobs back to the United States; the tax credit will help pay for permits fees, leases, and general moving costs of relocating a new facility or new jobs into the country. It also enforces federal agencies to require companies to make mandatory disclosures if they have outsourced jobs within the last three years.

The legislation is designed to ensure that federal contracts, loans, and grants funded by taxpayers support companies that employ American workers.
