Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

12,500 let go yesterday

In one day, 12,500 families lost their livelihoods. In a single day. Do you think somebody at the top cares about any of that? Does any single one of them feel even a slight discomfort after ruining so many lives? I know, that's too much to ask for from people like them.

So its being reported at 12.5k (this is very close to 10%), they are likely to spread the gloom and pain over a few weeks to avoid getting smacked for lying on there financial report, which did NOT report that many only ~6k.

Bane Capital is driving all these GTM fiasco's and have management convinced that they can perform at a certain level with fewer, cheaper workers, by leaning into partners to put their products in front of the customers..
I wonder who makes up those partners? Oh all those people laid off from Dell, who know that Dell will not deliver on their promises and poison the relationship between the VAR/partner and customer.. Sooooooo what happens is the partners are positioning other vendors gear, driving Dell sales even lower. hmm

Actually, the layoff goes through the end of the week. Everyone doesn't know yet.

I was a Dell/Emc employee for 20 years, and got caught in the WFR about 5 years ago. It was the only job I had ever had since finishing school. I was conditioned to believe I was treated well, but in retrospect, that wasn’t the case. The single best “career move” I’ve ever made was getting out. It stunk at first, until I accepted that this wasn’t a reflection on me, but rather a reflection of the priorities of the people I worked for. 5 years out and wouldn’t ever consider going back.

Worst things are happening in the world. Yesterday Coup in Bangladesh conspired by The western Superpower, wars in Europe, ME, te---r attacks. Job loss is terrible but compared to all these, we just have to live a frugal life with hope for future.

No, the ones at the top don't care. They are beholden to the stock holders. Though this may be a very hard bump in the road, hopefully for the vast majority, lives are not ruined. There are exceptions but for the most part, most will go on and actually be better for it. Not having to work in a place with layoffs every quarter for the past few years may be a big relief! Does it su-k, yes. Is it hard, yes. But please don't ever let a job define you or your worth.

No - we are making the sacrifice so Michael Dell can keep his boats and hotels in Hawaii
