There's rumors floating around that any future layoffs would definitely include people who could stay working remote or appeal the RTO to work remote and is accepted. Does anyone have any info on this?

Haven’t heard this. I think virtual employees will be encouraged to leave due to other policies though.
Don’t think you can be considered for another internal position unless you can go to the office. No career growth means people will slowly just leave.
No but I think the RTO approach is being used to reduce headcount.
Unfortunately that will result in good people leaving as opposed to low-performers when it's a targeted redundancy process.
But I think they have accepted that will happen anyway and are prepared to accept that - quite short sighted really. In some cases I know people will be impacted by 5-10% of their salary due to travel costs so you can understand why they will leave.
