Changing 50 mile radius remote rule

Is anyone hearing that they are going to remove the 50 mile radius rule for remote employees and those employees will be told to find an office location to go to or be assigned one without choice of location?

If you are not granted remote, as in less then 50 miles to an office, and all your colleagues are not in that office, the glorious leader, blessed be he, has said you must humiliate yourself and make a long commute to work to sit in a cubicle by yourself.

Nice logic Mr. Hock. I have the florist on speed dial for your funeral flowers.

This is how you get rid of talent people, make them perform stupid human tricks.

This is BS. If you are granted remote and you are remote. If you get laid off, it has nothing to do with your remote status. It has to do with your roles if it is needed or it is losing money.

50 mile rule no longer applicable in the VCF division for sure.

Wish we were in Europe where they're protected from this BS.

Much required action. I know few useless folks in earlier VES who used to work remotely and push their tools and fancy stuff (non-industry standards) just to scrap those later on. Let us all the employees go to office.

Private equity is the sc-m of the earth. Only work for PE as you transition out to a more ethical livelihood. Otherwise expect to be sc--wed over just like PE sc--ws over their customers, their investors, their country and their employees.

@1rik+1tS3ttLf If it is a layoff then that's a good deal. If it's failure to report to work, that's different story.

@1dfe+1tS3ttLf not confirmed. It puts you on a list that you won’t relocate but nothing official like a letter has been offered. Only a call. They will layoff people who say “no” probably

@1gto+1tS3ttLf If you decide not to relocate, do you get a severance layoff package or assume a resignation without any packages? Or, if you are willing to relocate, does BC offer any relocation reimbursements?

Yes. And I can confirm/second @1bzo+1tS3ttLf comment. I was also asked to relocate or start looking for a new job. So have my remote teammates that are beyond 50 miles. Those who agreed to relocate have received office assignments and start dates.

Shorting private equity companies is a dangerous game. Steward health care was acquired by private equity. Many patients died. One short seller put out a report and shorted them. Steward health care paid ex-MI6 agents to go after the short sellers and made their life he-l. This is a banana republic. We are living in the final stages before the empire collapses. Looks like this board is full of market manipulators trying to drive stock down so they can buy in. What a bunch of losers.

Hey juvenile idiaaats, its not about the stock. It is about the jobs of thousands. Its about their families. Its about they having to leave the country.

Crybabies, did you already report the posts to the admins?

They are losing the AI bubble. All efforts to keep the S&P in range for elections. But the Israel war could throw a wrench into the works. But definitely the S&P will be pumped for elections.

Elliot Management an activist investor group put out a letter to its client saying the AI and NVDA bubble is bursting. This was leaked by FT. This is now common knowledge in the hedge fund circles. Only the public are buying the dip. As always the public is the last to know after they have already bought the top. NVDA Jensen has already sold 1.3 billion of stock since 2020 in the gaming bubble, the crypto bubble, the metaverse bubble and the AI bubble. He doesn't know where to keep the cash. Of course he has already warned that the AI bubble is getting close to bursting. He said Blackwell is getting delayed and not coming in 2024, but in 2025. CYA. The FTC is already behind him for monopoly charges. The EU also is after him now. Time to bail.

Quaaaarter not looking good. Supermicro margiiins are a disaster. They have to do deeeep discounts on AI servers. Not sellling. Intel semis saaales are in the toilet. Need to cut 10% or 10k employees. Dell eaaarning are a disaster. Dell is going to cut 15% or 15k saaales people and are going to use AI bots instead of saaales people to sell. NVDA Blackwell getting delayed. Won't happen this year. Possibly a reveeenue miiiiss is coming to NVDA. Broadcom said they are selling 5nm AI custom chips in China. Not sure if they can show some fake China reveeeenue growth this quarter. If not you could see a reveeeenue miss on both AI chips and anyway the other chips sales are in the toilet (see Intel). They will announce massive layoffs in the semiconductor divisions. Cuts in VMware is a daily circus

no rule change. it's saying that if you want a specific job, you need to work from a specific office. ibm did that 8-10 years ago when they wanted to unload people. olde play...

You can stop speculating why this illogical push is taking place. 'Return to Office' is how US companies downsize without having to follow WARN Act. Anything else you are being told by Broadcom leadership is utter Giant-B/Giant-S. Broadcom wants people to leave, so they are going to make things as difficult as possible until they get to a better number to publicly report on for actual cuts. You should know, they will force people to return to offices and then they will subsequently close some offices and force more moves, again. Understand this as well, downsizing will have a positive effect on the stock in the short term. Nearly all analysts are saying Broadcom is a buy and gleefully predicting $200 a share. If the downsizing is considered good optimization, and it will be considered that, the stock will go even higher.

I was told my location is being changed without a new contract to an office that is 600 miles away from me if i say i will move or I can say no and be put on a list of “not willing to relocate.” Obviously that is a list of people who will be let go in the next 9-10 weeks. Wondering if it is all Broadcom or only certain divisions.

I've heard a rumor since April-ish that I'm going to be attached to an office in another state and told to "report" there. The obvious threat is that if I don't show up I'm either refusing to do my job or somehow derelict in my responsibilities and they can fire me. My management and HR contact refuse to say this won't happen and offer nothing more than "they're still working on it".

My commute is 3.5 hrs each way. That means I work 1hr in the office. Its a good deal.

They are not even holding themselves to the 50 mile rule. They assigned one person to an office that was 48 miles by bird (75 miles by road). A week later they closed that office and moved the employee to one on the other side of the city, exceeding 50 miles. They still required them to show up. Even with solid documentation that it was a 2-hour commute each way.

They're just making it up as they go along. Next we'll see them make people 100 miles away drive in. Then likely start rejecting those with disabilities under ADA accommodations.
