Can anyone suggest a checklist of things to do and documents to keep before termination day?

The list above is great.
Save phone numbers and email addresses of people you want to stay in touch with.
Delete any personal emails and files sent from your work laptop. (Your manager can request access to your data.)
If you use your work calendar for personal appointments, print it out.
Do not email company data to your personal email. It is grounds for termination and you will risk your severance.
Life is better on the outside. (Sr. Director, April 23 layoff.)
Loving my new job, feeling for those going thru it back at Optum.
Try to move any templates or guides you’ve created to your personal one note.
Anything you’ve created and may want to use again, save it!
- ) if you are in a Rewards for Health type program, complete anything you can to get $ or prizes
- ) get all routine dental, medical, eye checkups done while you still have insurance. If you go somewhere else, all your deductibles will start again.
- ) use up PTO down to 40 hrs. If you are laid off, you can only cash out on 40. If you leave the company voluntarily, you don't get paid out on ANY unused PTO.
- ) take as many of the free CEs available through the company as you can. They're are some programs that might still work for a little while after you leave so make sure you hold on to the login info.
- ) Sign up for any conferences, additional training, additional licenses you can while you can still get Optum to pay for it.
- ) use EAP
- ) Turn in all receipts to concur that you need reimbursed on.
- ) if your supervisor is good and is leaving, see if s/he will write you an awesome evaluation before they go so that is your most recent one.
Save all correspondence regarding your termination. Make sure you save your termination letter. In it should be the reason you were selected for termination. If it is not there, ask the person who sent you the letter for an explanation. Save anything and everything that you might need for any potential wrongful termination claim.
Regain sanity/normalcy ✅
I used the time to do most of the above plus made internal networking calls. Once you are gone, it’s almost impossible to reach internal people that are now external. I know it’s hard but look at those of us who have been laid off and returned or those that haven’t returned, got jobs elsewhere. Take time (while you’re paid) to do some self care. Have faith!! It had NOTHING to do with your value.
- Email yourself all personal documents, which could be all your courses completed, resumes, project notes/ideas. Productivity scores of yourself. Stuff that you know would be handy and helpful in your next role or job search.
- review your profile in GSS to make sure your mailings address is accurate
- save and email your last 3 pay stubs from GSS
- any important work colleagues contact information that would be helpful in the future
- On your last day, submit your hours for your Gss timecard and then send the snip shot to your personal email as well so they don’t play games
