Layoff 8/15 & No Motivation

So, I am one of the many that got laid off. 8/15 is my last day. I am desttracted and not focused. How are others gettin through the days? Or how did others that have already gone get through the last days?

I feel for you.

I was laid off in July of this year.

The good news is that there is severance pay, an outplacement program and the insurance was good until the end of the month.

I hope that you will find something very soon

I am still employed here but fight every day to push myself through the motions. This company provides so little in terms of employee benefit. After seeing countless colleagues let go, many after several years of hardworking service, I have no motivation to go beyond the bare minimum. What am I working for? A 2% raise that I'm told to be grateful for?

What part of the company do you all work in? There's no signs of layoffs, unless I'm missing them?

As someone who has been laid off 3 times, I usually ended up in better position (with the exception of during COVID lockdown). I use the time to get new certifications to slap on my resume making me more visible to recruiters. So, make sure your Linked In is up to date and you are connected with everyone you’ve ever met in your life, consider the jobs you would like to have and check job listings to see what additional qualifications you need, and don’t give in the negative self thoughts. Reflecting on my career has made me realize that by not working at the same company exclusively has lead to much broader experience that has made me more marketable.

I am still employed, but I find myself very unmotivated to work. You can just feel a vibe in our department that has never been there before. Plus, our work is decreasing. It is just a matter of time for me. I see the writing on the wall. Even though management paints a rosey picture. I don’t believe them.
I am sorry you were laid off. I wish you the best.

Any work assignments they gave me, I made sure I did them. But there was very little that was assigned to me.
If there are any emails that you need to save, do so. Any personnel files that you want for your records, save them.
HR/Employee Relations will not help you afterwards. Make sure you save off your termination letter that you received. As well as any severance info, payroll info, any company phone numbers.
