Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

What will be hit the hardest?

I know nobody is safe but some groups are bound to be at more risk than others. Who should be the most worried?

Under-performers in Sales and Sales Leadership are always first.

Secondly, many performers in Sales will be impacted this go around due to consolidation of segments.

Sales is high risk, high reward. I moved into Sales from a technical role many years ago. I love it, it’s not for the weak.

In the U.S., marketing and Ops were already quietly hit in Feb. I hope they are not hit again.

I don’t know what the consulting firm thinks about the number of sales reps per account. AE redundancy (Core AE + DCS AE) in some segments has persisted since the acquisition of EMC. In big tech, elimination of redundancy usually takes 6 months - 2 years. Not 8 years.

Further, Dell hired ‘inside DCS’ on top off existing field DCS last year, increasing the cost burden. There are ISRs with Core focus too. So, a single account might have 4 sellers + specialty. HEAVY.

Inside sales...if you are a IV, consider yourself gone this round or the next
