Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I don't get some of you

Reading this forum, I came to a conclusion that everybody hates their job and can't wait to get out of here. Yet, now that layoffs are coming, everybody is panicking and stressing. Why? Is there a better way to leave the company you hate than being paid to do so? You should be hoping to be affected, not fearing it.

Those are gross generalizations. Maybe 15 people on each side of that statement posting on this site.

I'm as relaxed as I have ever been. Excited for tomorrow so I can be free from this toxic place. Already have jobs lined up, been prepared for this since the last round which were handled horribly.

Once the company shows they don't care the workforce showed they didn't care either. Lots of great people, lots of toxic leaders do not worth the grind

Well it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. The job market is horrendous so finding a new job is hard to do right now.

With that being said, there is this thing called money that humans need in order to survive by purchasing, food, shelter, clothing, etc.

I know this might be a hard concept to grasp, but when people need money to survive and can’t leave their sh---y job, they feel stuck and usually complain about their situation.

You should try doing some critical thinking prior to posting some d-mb cr-p like this.

Because we wasted our most productive years here and are now subject to age discrimination.

This is a layoff rumor site. It's not a psychological help group. If you have a rumor let us know. If not, move on.

Because people would rather blame everyone rather than themselves. They get asked to do something and refuse and get let go and now it’s the jobs fault. Yes the WFR is hard on everyone, but not everyone whose let go are the best at their job in reality, only in their own heads. We will see what happens, but I feel like most people on here hate their job or secretly hate themselves for not putting in work

why do you assume on an anonymous forum that the same people worried are the same people who cant wait to leave?

The job market is weak and saturated. I am looking daily all of 2024 and it is a challenge. The tech sector layoffs starting in 2022 to present are documented. 165,269 - 2022, 264,220 - 2023, 124,517 - 2024. Be optimistic but realistic to the radical upheaval in technology and jobs. I wish everyone the best.

It doesn't seem logical. But there is some truth about the job market. And there's some basic human psychology. There's the devil-you-know. Leaving on your own terms. The toxicity has reached a level that Stockholm Syndrome isn't a total exaggeration, either.
A friend and 25 year veteran from one of the consolidations a few years ago, very loyal, Dell blue, took a few days but then made peace with it and never looked back. That said, it's far from great anywhere right now, so if you need a paycheck . . .
