Laying off so many people is expensive. What's to stop the leadership from reducing severance drastically to save on layoff-related costs? This is stressful enough as it is, but when you add that into the mix, everything becomes ten times worse. Is this a realistic possibility?

CPM 2022. Got 1.5 weeks per year plus PTO. Sabbatical was also paid, that’s a surprise
You get the lump sum in the next paycheck cycle after your last day. It’s not like a pension. You get it, you’re done.
They will right off severance pay against Federal taxes, doesn't cost them cent against the yearly

It's usually paid out in a small amount of lump-sum payouts, so it isn't like you'll be collecting a paycheck for a year, where they could decide at any time to pull the rug from under you. Once you've got your package, you've got your package.
I think package will be small. It’ll take 2-4 months to identify and initiate job cuts. Just consider you’ve a head start and start looking.
