Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

What is this the opinion of Operations?

I am a new graduate and am working in Schwab Operations as my first job. I would like to know what the general opinion is of operations. I don’t want to stay here too long if it will hurt my career in the future.

You are fine. People on this board are not representing the general mood. Here you find only the most miserable individuals, who only complain and think they are entitled.

You will get out of it what you put into it do not allow yourself to be subjected to the negative influence of other people even if Schwab is a bad place to work you can still benefit from it. Focus on relationships and the long-term.

I&O is awful. Leadership is some of the worst I've ever seen.

Through my pretty long career at other firms and at Schwab, I can say that Operations at Schwab is just one notch up from a sweatshop. This is not a good company and Ops is treated like garbage, I would not focus on setting roots at Schwab. Also, just read through this message board, everyone is miserable, morale is at an all time low, there’s no trust in leadership. There’s nothing appealing about working at Schwab, they don’t even pay as well as other firms do. Put your energy into finding another job.

What are you looking to get out of operations?

Schwab is in a race to the bottom in operations and retail. It is likely that the company will outsource data center support and management more than they have already. Same for the NOC and engineering roles.

Fidelity and competitors are doing the same.

Legacy operations are likely a dead end. The only opportunity may be in cloud services.

Please describe more what you’re thinking.

Is it in technology? To confirm hover over your name in teams. See if you roll up to Simon Indge. If you do then yes it will hurt your career and you should start looking. You won't be getting good mentorship since most people in that org are terrible at their jobs.
