My manager in India thinks we are safe this time, and I haven't heard of anyone around me in India being affected or even having a one-on-one meeting. This is reassuring for me, but I don't want to be caught off guard. Is this the case for others in India as well?

Jobs are being moved all over the world to locations with the cheapest workforce. Unfortunately, for the U.S., this has sped up as a result of Covid where Dell saw that work can be done from home. That home is now anywhere in the world. If A.I. delivers anything of value as is being promised, expect the workforce to be ground down even further.
Indians are not cheap as chips. But yes, the ones who sell their own team members out and go behind skirts and politicking with 0 skills are cheap as chips ! These folks are found in India and all other parts of the world where humans live.
Any idea about India severance and notice period ? Any info would help.
Yes. Indians are cheap as chips. So you’re all safe. Only the First World is impacted. We’re shedding First World livlihoods so that you lot can keep buying naan
I am being let go, Monday first thing. Not sure when the last day is ?
- For India - what is the severance package.
- Is Friday the 9th last date?
- Do we get to negotiate this at all OR is it more like take what we give and go?
- Do they let us keep our laptops - just checking...
What a waste! I was hybrid and went in all 39 days for what it is worth.
I know of 5 that have been let go in ISG Software Engineering in BDC. There are others that I have heard of, but don't have verification.
General rule of thumb - don't believe what your manager has to say about layoffs. They either don't know, can't say, or may lie about what they do know. It's very rare that a manager will be in the know and disclose accurate information.
in India I7 and below have same day exit, notifications and exit for week September 13th. Higher grades will be notified next week with exit in week September 13th
Minor layoffs in India. Dell is following strategies from 2001. Layoff in the US and hire cheap in India. 23 years of learning that doesn’t work and Dell is just stuck.
If the role doesn’t exist anymore in the modern Dell plan, it doesn’t matter the location. It’s stressful, hang in there
That’s because all the US jobs are going your way. If we do WFH then MD says the job can be done by someone in another country for less money. That way he can add another B to his vault.
