Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Can’t we just move on? In a positive way!

Seriously guys, what’s up with the constant negativity? I’m one whom had their best friend laid off, and my peers broken apart and spread between different leaders (leaving the best leader I’ve ever had), but STILL we found a way to move forward. You can too, honestly does it su-k what happened last year, yes, but at the end of it all life moves on.

I get some folks are upset but y'all could just be kind to others and stop wishing the worst.

I’d like to start a thread on how to stay positive, cause honestly it’s draining. If anyone has any suggestions on how to move forward please share and help others do the same

The OP is spot on!

I was laid off, when the entire dept. was terminated. As I had worked on my skills development, I got a new job within a week. With better pay!

With the severance pay, it was a windfall! I feel great!

But, I prepared for it. My long game worked. The hours I spent on training on my spare time paid off handsomely!

Moving on will need a clear direction, not self-deception. Postive attitude is associated with positive experience, even cats/dogs know that. But how we can have our words being heard/taken seriously by upper management? Why people lost jobs but EC got rewarded by multi-M$$$??
Check this one out:

As Walt tried to defend the shrinking and flat earning, the schw price did not boost up. W street and bloody investors dont buy in.
How we can get positive way to move on??? Not to bring down spirit but the facts are here, cold and true.

I think people use this forum to complain because they can’t at Schwab, for fear of retaliation. In my experience, any constructive criticism or justified negativity about this or that is met with disdain, side-stepping, and even work related consequences. That’s why everyone seems “fine” but the survey scores are garbage. This forum is a “safe space” for people to vent about this, quite frankly, poorly run company and the vast majority of people on here feel the same about most topics.

“Moving on” isn’t really a possibility when broken things aren’t being fixed, upper management still isn’t being transparent, further layoffs are still a very real possibility, and all of our valid questions are continually brushed aside in all hands meetings. Workplace flexibility is also probably on its way out because executives only care about the bottom line vs the employees actually making them $$$.

Inflation is ki-ling the middle class, the job market blows, bonuses/raises were cut and will probably be next year as well etc. There’s really not a whole lot to be positive about rn, so coming to this forum and chastising people for still having concerns is about as tone deaf as the EC (and Walt preaching positivity on LinkedIn while the stock plummets, making the grants we got last year virtually worthless). But yeah, let’s all put on a happy face while we wait our turns at the chopping block, fu-k off

Op is the type to get laid off and then go on LinkedIn and thank the company that just let them go

When Schwab stops treating their employees like trash, perhaps we'd be more positive? Just sayin.

Because if you are positive about how bad this place has turned you are letting Walt and the EC off the hook. Not on my watch

I think OP has a point, some of you guys lashed out and attacked them making snide remarks without caring. I saw multiple threads where, while there is fear out there, these boards aren’t JUST for saying things in a negative or fearful way. It can be a place for kindness as well…Can we warn each other and support each other through layoffs, yes we can. If not we are just as bad as what we fear.

This post you can tell had a fellow whom was impacted emotionally, just trying to move forward and help others. Nothing wrong with that.

The constant lack of predictability within Schwab, constant threats of continued reductions, devalued RSUs / ESPP shares, reduced bonuses, reduced pay (inflation), more work and fewer people, terrible middle management, and a terrible job market make things understandably difficult. But glad Walt’s LinkedIn article resonated with OP.

Really? I am literally scared to ask if I can move from one location to another. What if the other location gets sold off in the near future? Literally the folks working remotely in my team have voluntarily resigned as they got forced to report to a texas location. It's hard for citizens to find a job in this market, forget about the work visa folks!! It's not easy to move to a new company either!

We will not stop complaining until leadership starts to treat us better. They make way too much money and do not have employee interests in mind. It’s only about the shareholders and their stock option packages oh wait I mean the culture

You’re complaining when the previous post was literally titled Good News.

Downvote and move on. Not every post is going to be what you want. But there’s a place for humor and good vibes. This isn’t it. Especially when literal livelihoods are being threatened and our quality-of-life impacted. Going elsewhere doesn’t work with a mortgage and kids in school, a spouse with an in person job and limited options. And looking at Fidelity and other boards it’s as if they got together to see how happy they could make us.

ExSchwabbie, not cool to bring others down, at least someone is trying to keep others positivity up.
Got to admit it’s refreshing and a good support post.
Whoever the poster is, good for them!

It’s a layoff board. If you want positivity post good reviews on Glassdoor or something.

I agree, most of these threads are d-mb I read them to ki-l time.

My way to stay happy, focusing on those that put effort to make life better, and staying away from the negativity
