Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Both me and wife worked at Intel. Back in 2016 during ACT, my wife lost her job. I also took advantage of the situation to leave Intel. During the last 8 years, the stock of Intel has actually fallen from mid $30s to $20, while our current company stocks have grown 3-4X. Best decision ever to jump ships back then.

And my manager asked me attend a work meeting at 11am lololl. What an id--t. This is the problem right here

I do not see Intel going fabless - I think it is more likely they become primarily a foundry and exit most product design / development areas.

Too many companies are now designing custom products. Having a library of building blocks on their FAB processes for customers to design with seems to me to be future of the company. They have missed the boat on AI most recently just as they have in the mobile device area in the past.

@ral+1tOr04Pl : I beg to differ. I am more innovative and get more work done when I am not playing corporate hunger games. I also happily work long hours when I am not desperately looking forward for the weekends to get respite from toxicity and dreading Monday mornings.

I have never seen a toxic team that is productive as most of the time is spent in appearing productive !

@mwx+1tOr04Pl peaceful work environment is what has Intel in the position is in!

If I am at Intel in Jan 2025, I will continue at Intel if my manager and most of my team is intact. Otherwise, I will leave. I like my team too much and don't want to let go of the peaceful work environment that I accidentally ended up in after working in soul su-king toxic environments for years. Too precious to let go even in the sinking ship ! I am not worried at all about finding a new job if I have to.

With the amount of cuts, especially people at retirement age in the fabs.i don't see IFS making any gain. If anything there will be further losses due to tribal knowledge departure. I think Intel will be going fabless sooner rather than later.
