After buying BG and sacking most of the bg folks, Shell has shown it can make big deals work. Maybe head office was moved to uk so that they can more easily buy bp, then move head office after that.
There would be potential for huge cost savings…

Shell is a big rat to swallow in one piece. i’m sure there will be offers tossed around for parts of it….WS will consider all of them if it’ll make the remaining core company stock price increase. Big American buyers already have rats to swallow. foreign buyers are my guess for parts of Shell
Maybe XOM or CVX will buy Shell?
Oil prices will have to go way down for it to be worth it for Shell.
I guarantee that there is a model somewhere that has a trigger , something about delta in market cap and shell being close to being fairly valued , along with lack of access to future reserves… if achieved an approach could be made. Lots of anticompetitiveness hurdles but it would be foolish not to eye it if timing and company fundamentals are right.
If people really thing that CR folks put any effort into this board then I think they are smoking some really strong stuff!

People here are trying too hard to shut down this down. Sounds like folks from CR whose jobs are to squash rumors. I could easily see Shell merging with BP and moving HQ to Houston.

This mythical merger has been turning up like an unwanted ex-partner at Thanksgiving for the last 25+ years. Nobody wants to see them together, nobody thinks they’re good for each other and while flirting is fun, neither are serious.
Put this stale rumor to rest once and for all.
It would by now make anlot of sense and the only way they can compete with xom
