Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Happier times at Cengage?

Anyone else remember the happier times at Cengage?

Back when we were Thomson Learning, I remember there being a very sultry lady that would come by Fridays 5pm with a beverage cart full of beer, wine, cocktails & the like......yowza! We'd be making big bucks and I'd be able to talk out loud openly about politics without anyone giving me the stinkeye.

Gosh I remember getting a bonus if we met selling targets & Christmas checks to boot! Hard work really paid off back in the day. Not like the cr-p I am hearing now. I hear you generation "why" iPhone skinny jean folk ruined the company. I worked with one of you back at Channel Center and would ALWAYS talk about T**** near your desk to PI-S you OFF!!!!!

i've been gone for a couple years. i've heard a lot about better times in the past, but cengage was a clown college the whole time i was there. No place is perfect, but the average intelligence there, especially the further up the org chart you go, is shocking. it's all hillbil--es su-king up to the hillbil--es above them.

"It’s not a Cengage problem. They are who they are. A sh---y business. It’s a you problem for not figuring it out sooner."

We pretty much all expected this to happen sooner or later, but let's be real - not everyone enjoys job-hunting. We're not oblivious. We're introverts who liked our jobs and our colleagues.

I averaged $60k in bonus for 15 years. I was smart enough to leave shortly after APAX bought Thomson and rebranded.

One thing that many of you on this board need is the ability to see a bit around corners and act on it.

Clearly, this person has never worked for Cengage/Thomson Learning. This ship has been sinking for the last twenty-five years. Also, Generation Y doesn't wear skinny jeans.
