Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

If there are layoffs, is there a group that manages notifications - can we hear from them?

I remember the C19 layoffs, then there was a scheduled invite; from what I heard I think you got a 'business meeting request' and your manager was on the invite too.
If that's the case, I wonder if we know of which group heads that up.
I'd be curious to hear if anyone there is willing to contribute to these discussions.

Lots of speculations here, I'm sure I speak for many, the anxiety level is quite high (for me anyway). I wish the folks that don't know, and have rather negative views of the company would just keep to the topic: WFR (downsizing).

If you don't like Dell well you're not alone, that's quite clear here. But I think most here just want to know about next week's updates. Wish we could keep on topic.

Sadly I've had to deliver the news and yes it's scripted and you can't deviate from the script or answer questions. It's pretty cold and I'm sure most if not all managers want to have a real conversation. I was asked if I wanted HR on or not and I did. They helped with questions and follow up.

My question now is will the larger numbers being discussed allow them to do them individually or will they do a mass layoff meeting (hope not)

Good luck to all of you and hope you are not impacted.

Intel chopping 15% of their workforce. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see similar statement from Dell in a few weeks during their earnings call.

Same happened to me this past February. My biweekly 1x1 with my manager changed to Monday morning. HR didn’t join, but manager told me the news, I cried, she cried and I was done that Friday.

All true here. Been there last year. HR sounds compassionate, manager reads a piece of paper. Su-ks for all. Things sometimes work out for the best. Good luck.

Exactly how it happened for me/my team. 1x1 with manager slid to Monday, joined and was given the bad news after HR jumped in.

I wonder if we'll see invites in our inbox over the weekend, given above post.
(Nice reply here, totally on topic!)

When you are asked (told) to be on the notification team, you can't say 'no'....sadly, you feel guilty and relief at the same time. It's horrible. Each member of the notification team receives a list of names and dates that they will be notified. They usually span 2-5 days the week of layoffs. Affected employees will receive an email (usually the day before) entitled 'Business Update' or '1x1' (typically not at your usually time/day although this is certainly possible). It will come from your manager, not the person on the notification team. The member of the notification team will join the meeting after it starts to let the employee know they are being let go and the details of the separation agreement.
