Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

After WFR from Dell

From below post, if you get "Business Update or 1X1" then you're toast. If so, some suggest LinkedIn, recruiters, networking with coworkers, etc. What I did - I went to past employees here on this layoff site, plus I looked up what some recruiters gave me before Dell. Oh no, "Toxic place to work," "id--ts running the show, "icky company," etc., etc. Makes me think before you look at the next place you're considering you might check out this site's layoff's page first. Then, you might see through the glitzy persona and find Dell is not all that different than most. I think I'm going to look at midrage companies next go-around. In my experience enterprises are too oppressive, albeit salary's bit higher.

our pipeline is always breaking and continually needs people to fix it.

The CI/CD pipeline for IT applications has reduced the need for bodies already. If you didn’t identify CI/CD as a body reducing technology/capability a few years ago then you weren’t paying attention.

Imagine all the IT teams trying to implement AI to manage increased workload but with limited budget and no business processes because the laid off too many people.

network the he-l out of your contacts and be active in linkedin.. that's the name of the game.. think of yourself as a consultant even if you work for the company. there is no more loyalty, you're just a number act the part. you get paid for what you do.. that is it.. who cares about the product / services.. you're in it for a paycheck to help yourself and your company. loyalty days died when Reagan was elected

After WFR from Dell, Dell Internal IT will be more busy than Dell Leadership. LMAO

While maybe there are some nuggets of information one can glean from a “layoff” site, it probably isn’t representative due to the amount of anger generated here from getting let go.

Suggest a couple things - first, save early and often. Don’t let a company be your end game, always have a plan for interims between jobs. Second, evaluate any company based on the team and job requirements. Sure this can always end poorly, and interviewers tend to not offer a lot of behind the scenes info. But learn to read the room and go from there.

My prior stint at Dell was good, but also difficult. My current stint, I have a great team that is getting torn apart bit by bit. I’ve been told that my team is “safe”, but also, I’ve seen this circus before. Look out for yourself and yourself only and you will be ok. Or at least better off.
