Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Return to Office Full Time

As if doing the work of all the people that were laid off isn't bad enough. Now the Emperor wants us back at the Office full time. People will just leave like a mass exodus, possibly this is what he wants. The employees who remained and weren't laid off are disgusted with this monarchy. Sad to see how in the 20th century, Canon's new leadership is trying to reverse all the great things done by the previous CEO.

Boo hoo! Appreciate you have a job. People are still looking for work. What did you do prior to COVID? Oh yea...work 5 DAYS in the office. Yes, its a disruption to what was our "daily" routing for the past 4 years but did you seriously think this will last forever? We adapt with the current situation. Am I happy? No. I rather be home but I'm grateful that I have a job where I can pay the bills, have a roof over my head and feed my family.

People will say they will go find a full remote job. Good on you. But what happens when that company goes and have employees back in the office? Or what if the company is based in a different state? Going to cry about that too?

To mult-line dealer: what is not a good look is Emperor Sammy got bailout money from the feds as well as corporate welfare from local governments. Guess you enjoy seeing folks getting it in the hind quarters.

Do you see the irony in people working for a company that sells office equipment thinking it's okay for people to work from home? If people actually worked at home, they would have bought more home printers (that Canon makes for HP), but that didn't happen.

When I was last in Melville on a Friday, it was a ghost town, apparently an "optional work day." Not a good look.

I am a multi-line dealer who always depended on Canon - now having doubts.

It's the uncertainty and lack of transparency that's driving folks up the wall.

I'm at a loss for words to the response on this topic. How can you operate a demo room in Florida and the employees only work 2 days a week. And I see next year you will have to work another day.
So, either Canon has a waste of demo space where you only need people there 2 days out of 5 and or your sales are tanking with barely any customers coming for a demo.

Three days in office starting Jan. 2025, Monday, Wednesday, plus one other day determined by department, most likely Tuesdays for most.

The reply below: “I am an employee”. Ok, well you could be an HR employee or executive employee that is a bootlicking sympathizer for the comrade executive officer.

FAKE NEWS! Even if we go back one additional day, most Fortune 500 and 1000 companies, including Google and Apple, have returned five days. Stop making a big deal and just be happy that you are employed and have a job. If you don't like where you work, you have the option to leave, so maybe instead of trying to figure out Canon's future moves, you should focus on working or finding something that makes you happy!

I am an employee before you rush judgment!
