Alright folks, this has come up several times. Has anyone left voluntarily (not laid off) under their tuition benefit contract term period and had to pay back their tuition?

Hard to imagine how they would force you to sign a promissory note if you’re leaving of your own volition and not getting a severance they can withhold if you do not sign.
Former coworker had to. They left only a few months shy of the period and owed the full amount back. That was before, you know... all of this. So you're better off asking someone high enough to answer and get it in writing if they say no.
I recently spoke with the benefits team managing this benefit and it was explained to me if I were to leave early I would have to sign a promissory note. Now if they follow through with that is a different question. I feel as tho given the state of the company they need that money/employee retention and will come for it. So I will leave it to those who have left and speak to their experience with HR after doing so.
How do you think people feel that are STILL in a program and hoping/praying to whatever god they still cover a couple more semesters?? 🙃🙃🙃
No idea the answer to your question (sorry) but I just think it’s sad what a great benefit this was and how 2U was able to educate so many people at their own company and then laid them off or they left. I know so many people that took advantage of this benefit and are now doing amazing things elsewhere. Just another shame of the downfall of 2U.
I am sorry, but this is simply not the site to go to for this question. You will not receive a reliable answer. Ask your manager -- at this point, there is no harm. The company is clearly going under and everyone is trying to gtfo.
