Oh Wow.. Now 172 stores before the end of the year!
Update..... It's now 125 store.... and ...counting....
Walmart is trying to pull out of neighborhood market by 2026. There was a memo about it recently. Any store that they can't convert and expand will be closed.
Breaking news it's now 75 stores.... effective this year.
walmart got caught up in the dei, stupidity check the boxes hiring and now the worst of the worst are managing stores. Ridiculous. There are some wonderful workers at the stores but when see stupidity in store management above the general worker level, it is demoralizing seeing how stupid, and bias that level is. Why work hard?
We close undesirable or poor performing stores all the time. We open new stores all the time. We even track and project shrink (theft) numbers so we can close those stores, too.
Totally believe this. They wrecked their culture and business when started to cultivate Management & Corporate from outside the company. When I started in 2003 it was work your way up. Putting a carrot infront of managers for years. Then all together filling corporate with zero retail experience. A lot of seasoned employees and managers have left after a decade of trying to move up. These where people who loved Walmart kept getting sc--wed by high turnover market / regional and corporate roles. They shot themselves in the foot with poor culture and unknowledgeable decision makers.
@1xwp How was that any different from the past 20 years?
I heard 50 stores....
No kidding, stores are filthy, produce is moldy, customer assistance is non existent.
Really
