I don’t even know why I’m still hoping to hold on to this job.

"how long"? You assume this is a temporary state.
There were a large amount of layoffs last week that went beyond VMware. It included many people who have been at Broadcom for over a decade. This is not temporary. This is not going to end. This is life now. This is how Broadcom operates. Everyone is at risk, no matter how good they are. It is all about how your actual job role contributes to the business.
It will start to become obvious in 2025 that Hock made a big mistake. VCF 9 will probably be delayed, but even so will be a buggy mess. At thecsame time the second tranche of customer renewals will start trending seriously downward because these customers have had over a year to see what's coming and prepare. Those who aren't able to leave the platform entirely will have started the migration process and right sized their environments so the renewals will be smaller than expected. Panic will ensue and they will have to do more layoffs. Classic death spiral.
Initially, I wanted to stick around to get the RSUs..
Now I want to stick around for the RSU’s and to see how much more messed up things can get.. it’s both amusing and startling. Like a terrible accident you can’t look away from.
"bad for customers but good for me because I know all those customers need my help"
Haven't you heard, our customers hate doing business with Broadcom? They just need help from our competitors, now that many have had enough of our declining support.
If you are IC 5 or lower not sure what you are even doing there at this point. I was IC 6 and had a ton of stock so just did as little work as possible hoping I get lucky.
Luck ran out last week. Oh well, VMware as we knew it was over anyway. Hock is letting smart people with years of knowledge go, bad for customers but good for me because I know all those customers need my help. Layoffs will continue till there’s no one good left. Good luck everybody!
Is it TPM lay offs happening right now ,
Layoffs ceremony will continue every week. If you think your job is secure here then you might as well can buy a lottery ticket. Sell the stocks before end of September. Afterwards stock market will go south for sure.
Absolute sh-tshow...I have never felt this unmotivated in all my 20 years career...and before some wise a-s come up with some stupid respose, yes i know i am getting paid to be here where some got laid off but..NO...not everything is about Money and yes I am actively seeking to get the f**k out of this poor excuse of a company..
I feel lucky to have been part of the first round of layoffs, just because I know I'd be tempted to try to stay on and would be miserable. New gig is a slight pay bump and approximately equivalent responsibilities and full remote.
