"So, it all boils down to your last active account day in the company."

Meaning, you must act on your RSUs before they disable your acct without warning.

I expect to be cut soon, therefore I've already sold all my exercisable AVGO stock.

It's really really simple..

if you are employed (active account) by Broadcom on the day your RSUs vest, you can collect the RSUs.

If you are not active, you can't.

Pay in lieu of notice (PILON) is where the company pays your notice period up front and removes you (disables your account) from the company at a date BEFORE your notice period expires, this often affects vest dates. They do this a lot in Europe.

So, it all boils down to your last active account day in the company.

"Not only will you NOT get accelerated vesting of AVGO RSU's but Broadcom is gonna get your (pre-acquisition) VMware (unvested) RSUs as well....I know this because I had 1 year left on a few unvested VMware RSUs that I acquired before Broadcom completed the acquisition.

Those unvested VMware RSUs converted to AVGO - and now that I've been let go, they will be clawed back!"

OP here, this seems illegal, isn't it? Did you sign document to agree on that?
Thanks folks for your replies, it is helpful!

No problem, put in a HR ticket to release your RSU’s on a specific date and you’ll be all set.

Why do you think they got rid of you? RSU's were a part of that calculation!

The Operations team is doing a great job. They will get lot of RSUs. Working hard on identifying redundencies and helping cut 70% of staff without skipping a beat on VCF 9.0 release. They will a get ton of RSUs but after 9.0 they will be cut too. Irony is the game is being played on them too. No need for a huge program management team for doing bug fixing.

Folks I think most VMware employees actually will get the RSUs and refreshers.

You are in China?

Plan A - survive 2 years and build up cash for 4 years of expenses
Plan B - survive 1 year and build up cash for 3 years of expenses
Plan C - If I get laid off this week then I already have cash for 2 years of expenses.

There are only 2 classes. First class and cattle class. If you are not in First class then you are in cattle class. There is the 1% and the homeless class. If you are not in 1% then you are in the potential homeless class. Plan accordingly.

Or just take your cash and go off grid. You can retire. No need to worry about expenses. Rent, car insurance, health insurance are only going up 30% every year.

Folks I think most VMware employees actually will get the RSUs and refreshers. Basically HT kicks low performers or redundant positions and give their RSUs to other, so the package looks amazing. Afaik refreshers for Europe are stellar, like 90% of base + bonus for 4 years. This is higher than Meta e5.

Wow..too much expectation here. Welcome to reality. RSUs are just distant golden apple to keep employees (prisoners) stay in company before axing brutally without mercy.

What a stupid question

In a word, NO, you can't. Besides, the Broadcom RSUs were intended to be a comp incentive that many ex-VMware employees who are terminated will never reap the promised benefit. FYI, AVGO performed the same scam on CA and Symantec employees.

It's one of the reasons why I decided to sell all my VMware RSUs before the Broadcom acquisition closed. Just consider your loss as a 'lesson learned' for future employment.
