Heard a rumor CPM’s were next on the chopping block with layoffs coming soon. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? I was moved to the CPM team with the acquisition and my workload has drastically reduced (maybe 1/10th of the work as before) which makes me worried.

Fred is what bad management looks like
Fred Schwark has really earned a reputation as a power hungry pr--k. Everyone talks about it, Fred.
I would still rather be a CPM over a partner director (previous CAM). Nothing like management telling you that you are no longer allowed to speak to customers and just blindly sending quotes all day. Management then wonders why our forecasts are off when we’re no longer allowed to work deals, but expected to close them. It’s a sh-t show.
There is no way I could work under the narcissist Schwark. He is creepy and evil.
Useless roles.
Read the website one pager and pick your SKU. No need for anything or anyone else.
Customer Portfolio Manager.
Basically, it’s all the VMware Offer Managers, along with SRMs (Strategic Renewal Manager), ISRs (Inside Sales Rep) and some of the Broadcom CPMs
Good God, what the heck is a CPM?
What’s a CPM?
The CPM role is both a blessing and a curse. We don’t carry the burden of dealing directly with customers, but it’s also one of the least gratifying jobs I have ever held. I moved and got promoted at VMware multiple times and am back to being an ISA. After missing my opportunity for severance I now welcome a package.
As a CPM who has absolutely nothing to do I can’t say this is surprising. I stayed because of the RSU’s and now regret it, I have a feeling I’ll never see that money.
Layoffs always. This is the way.
What is con? Do we need it?
This is true, but mostly for CPMs in AMER. CPMs in Europe should not be impacted or only a minor impact.
