Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Worst (stupid) CEO Ever

He have to be the worst CEO ever, I would even say he is flat out stupid. Wait until the end where he explains why panels do it, it's hilarious!

The people "running" Nielsen have to understand this, but they don't care and let this d-mb-a-s run a company and layoff the good people. It's disgusting!

KR is a knob. I enjoyed one of his all hands meltdowns where he got frustrated and went off “I AM NOT AN ID--T!!!!”

i went back to watch again and laugh but they edited that part out. this is why he has to have recorded fake live all hands. Dude is incompetent at speaking much less getting ideas across much less understanding the business. He’s too emotional to convey business priorities and just focuses on himself like a wienie.

Though KR is a schmoe, he's just one in a line of many recent CEOs at Nielsen that have been under qualified to lead the company. Not since Susan Whiting, who had a passion for the business, has there been a legit CEO. Susan worked her way up the Nielsen ladder and was beloved and respected by just about all at Nielsen during her tenure. I was a measly NYC account executive back in the day and my office literally was like 4 offices away from her corner office! She wasn't above the "minions" and made you feel like you were important to the overall program. Keeping Nielsen on top! And here's where things went downhill and missed the mark after Susan:

Calhoun: History has proven this corporate GE hack not only knew nothing about the TV business but is also a crook and hopefully will be jailed someday soon for his time at Boeing. The mid 2000s were a pivotal transformation time in the TV business as streaming came about - yet this no nothing suit had no clue and was just interested in his IPO.

Mitch Barnes: Nice guys. Came from the AC Nielsen/Bases world of consumer market tracking/behavior. Another guy with no clue about how the TV biz worked. Why? Because this kermit the frog sounding empty suit never worked in the biz. That's why. So he failed.

David Kenny: I was gone by this point but it appears this dude, another empty suit who also never worked directly on the TV measurement side of the biz, wasn't much better than Barnes and was more focused on all this DEI nonsense in the work place. Meanwhile his competitors were kicking his behind! So he had to go!

KR: Now Nielsen has bottomed out. The ship is sinking. Most of the sailors have jumped. This is what you are left with. A slimy, sleazy, mumble mouth talking opportunist who also does not come from a TV measurement background hanging in there for his golden parachute like the others got. Nobody takes this dude seriously. I used to walk by him in the halls and crack up! If you had told me this schmuck would someday be my CEO, I woldla tried to sell you a bridge....

So there you have it. The downfall started in the mid 2000's with Calhoun. Hasn't gotten better.

Very sad to see how a once great company is being led by this mo--n. No wonder Nielsen is in free fall.

Karthik is in this for one reason, to sleep with as many women as he can

He’s always been a dum*a$$, and when removed from scripted, pre-recorded messages this is what you get.

Guy’s a phony and has always been one. Nielsen has a lot of problems, and their CEO is just one of them.

flat out embarrassing.... cringe worthy! The incentive questions and his attempt to answer sounds like the CEO NEEDS TO GO TO TRAINING. HAHAHAHAHHA

Very convoluted attempt at explaining panels in the wake of female’s questions regarding measurement…his answer was based on premise that she was viewing at a Nielsen Household (which I’m guessing was not the case). Had he stated the fact that each Nielsen household statistically represents thousands of other households and wouldn’t take into account the personal viewing of her or the other 500 people she purports to have been partying with would’ve opened up a real can of worms, lol. Not to mention that PPM’s capture more than just radio—another fact that was misrepresented.
As for ‘why households do it,’ gotta agree with him that it’s for something other than the incentives, since they are so pathetically nominal!! But to make participation sound noble is yet another extreme…
The channel definitely had an axe to grind, as evidenced by the guy’s statement that Nielsen did not accurately report their numbers.
All things considered, a good opportunity to see ‘Kontent is King’ Karthik on the hotplate, unlike scripted, manipulative Town Hall performances.
The ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ greeting at the start of the interview? Maybe somebody had a little pre-show champagne celebration, which could partly account for
the noticeably altered delivery…..

I get your point but, isn't that what a CEO is supposed to handle? Like, he should be able to funnel the noise and focus on the right things and steer the conversation where he wanted it to be, he looked like a school child on his first interview.

I mean, "they actually are doing a really important thing for America"... seriously!?

This is the guy that is laying you off, when he should be the one leaving because incompetence!

A few thoughts:

  • most chaotic interview ever. Everyone interrupting each other. Couldn’t even formulate a sentence correctly.
  • Does Kathrick have cotton in his mouth? Did he just got punched in the mouth? What was going on with the slurred speech?
  • not a fan of Karthrick, don’t get me wrong, but the people at the news station were hella rude, talking over him, seemed like they had a personal vendetta against him. It was cringey to watch. It’s not like THEY were Nielsen employees, what the heck was their problem? They made tons of jabs at Nielsen, even the red jacket lady was sitting there arms crossed staring down at him. I wonder what the conversation was off air? Just seems off.
