Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Laid off Sofia swe

I just received my layoff notification during a meeting. After many years as a Staff Software Engineer in the Sofia office, my time at Broadcom has come to an end.

The job was challenging and required many hours, but I never complained about the pay or the experience. I'll miss working with so many talented individuals.

It's tough being let go, but I understand it's a business decision. I would like to inquire folks here if it is possible to postpone the process, allowing me to receive a few more vesting periods of my RSUs?

Best of luck to everyone who remains!

There’ll be another layoff end of October if you connect the dots: Hock advised he took VMware spend from 2.3B preaquisition to 1.6, 1.4 was his next target (this RIF is part of that), then stabilize at 1.3 for FY25. Considering this RIF was 20% of the org, expect another ~10% to hit the next target of 1.3B

Layoff list is made by your manager or his manger. You can ask him if he can change his mind and keep you and lay off other one in your team instead..
Next layoff is March or April next year. You can get 2 more RSU vesting.

@op depends on the region you are, technically you are on the payroll for few more months, and your RSUs till you are on the payroll should be allowed to You.
