So normal business decisions are about figuring out what customers actually want, then getting that thing in front of them at the right price etc., etc.

Social engineering is another discipline often used by propagandists with the intent of shaping public opinion.

So it appears that we have some crazy intersection of these ideas, that seem to be based on the destruction of demand for petroleum. But for this to make sense, simply switching from one fuel to another is sort of a zero sum game - UNLESS. Unless the goal is to make a lot less cars. Because you can't replace gas engines with batteries one for one, there simply isn't enough power or fuels to convert to power unless you end up needing a lot less power. Mm hmm.

But who knows? At face value nothing about switching energy from petroleum to something else that eventually becomes electricity makes no sense, but the mantra keeps on getting repeated. So logic would say there is a coordinated reason but the customer just doesn't know about it! Lighter, smaller does equate to less energy required. Check that box.

I think the right work is offer, not necessarily sell. Just because Ford puts it on the dealer lot doesn’t mean folks will purchase. Especially when there are other options.

Other automakers are adjusting their product portfolio to reflect consumer demand and maybe Ford should give that a try.

They have a small EV. It’s called “the Mustang” and no one buys it.
