Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Can we get it over with?

I'd be happier if they just sprung layoffs on us the day of, than knowing about it for weeks and having to stress and worry despite not being able to do anything about it. Rip the band-aid off so we can move on, whether here or somewhere else. The wait is unbearable.

most of the rumors are started by people that were previously laid off as a way to get back at Dell by scaring the folks that still have jobs.

"Haven't started yet"

They never stopped. Whatever going on in August may be larger, but there's been a slow drip of layoffs happening throughout orgs for quite some time. Most of the folks I know who were impacted in the last year and a half were let go outside of the February/August months.

Layoffs requires lots of ground work before they can be executed. The lead time for list approval through termination is 4 to 6 weeks. It's not an instant thing but is done to a schedule due to the legal requirements to protect the company.
