Curious if anyone has been laid off and received a severence but then saw a job postings and applied to Optum. Is there a period you must wait not to pay back the severence? The letter doesn't specify. Thanks

I left several months ago and read on the internal site somewhere that if you return within 1 year you have to return your severance. No biggie if it was for 2 weeks but huge if you were there for awhile….
It happens all the time. Good people get caught in a layoffs in dome certain area. They liked their job and they good employee. Other managers see transferable skills and system and process knowledge and think it will be a short learning curve. I've worked in a lot of great departments with good people and good managers. Do not be shy about coming back if you find uhg was a pretty good home compared to corporate America of domilar size. The company is huge and depts can differ much.
Its giving Stockholm syndrome babe
Ignore the haters, every group is different and people need jobs. The answer is yes, you can. Click the link on the severance notice to the help center. They have a section on this. Good luck.
Toxic company. Constant layoffs. No direction. Horrible leadership. Move on.
Why anyone would want to reapply to this organization is beyond my comprehension!
Seriously, think more highly of yourself an believe in yourself.
This is a toxic wasteland where no one is valued. Run and never look back.
You've been freed!
This happens all the time to the senior people who know they’re being laid off in the next round. They get tapped to leave, get severance, senior friend still with the company offers them a job in a different area under them and they get the best of both worlds.
DO NOT DO IT!!! There are better companies that will pay you and treat you better!!!
I was laid off in April and this was the main question I was asking because I didn’t want to offer myself to the company at a 10% discount. I talked to he about it while I was still there and basically once you get your severance check they can not take it away and you can reapply as an external candidate
If you pay me 20 weeks - take the twenty, buy a case of good italian wine and think what would make you happy. If it's a chicken farm on 40 acres...or working back at Optum, do it. But enjoy the wine.
Why would you want to reapply after being let go? Just find another job and cut ties.
