Thread regarding John Deere layoffs

Is there an end goal here?

A final number of employees they're aiming for? Something we can look at to know that after it's achieved, those of us still standing are good. A little more transparency from those at the top would go a long way in making this process less stressful for everybody involved.

Sorry, that is not how this works. Once the process has started it is unstoppable. There is not a start/stop component. The rest of our careers if we continue to stay will be filled with uncertainty. Layoffs, RIF’s, furloughs, outsourcing, offshoring and will be our constant companions. Senior management will be in the same position, so they’ll spend their time covering their behinds. We are soon to be on our own. This whole thing is a finely staged stage play out of the corporate playbook. Nothing is left to chance. They’ll gut the company, while not losing the hearts and minds of the employees, until we’re no longer needed. That’s how it works.
