Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

If it's that bad, you should leave.

The endless complaining in here is exhausting. Why don't those of you who are so miserable just leave? You act like the severance you may or may not get if you get laid off is life changing - it's not.

If you're as good as you think you are, go out and get yourself another job that you enjoy more. Get a higher salary. Get a sign-on bonus. Negotiate yourself more vacation. If will quickly offset the severance you think you're missing out on.

I think maybe those complaining all day realize they may have a hard time finding a new job. Or, they're just lazy and want to sit on their butt and do nothing for a few months while they "look for a job".

Only you can change your happiness. Don't rely on Dell to do it for you.

You are such a “pick me”, it’s pathetic. Go outside, touch the grass, get a life.

If a layoff site causes you this much sadness.... You can just leave. Maybe take your own advice.

Waiting for this months commission check (friday) and I am on my way out, voluntarily :) 13.5 years at dell and I’m done! I no longer trust the direction of this company and got a much better offer with a competitor. PS, Dell severely underpays so don’t be afraid to look around for other gigs. 3 from my team are leaving at the same time. I think the dominos are about to fall at this once great company. The people are the reason I stayed for so long. That and paternity leave and the week off for for Christmas. But now the people never talk, are always fighting with you, and the biggest obstacle. So yes, it’s that bad so we continue to walk out the door. I hope the college interns are ready to carry this cr-ppy torch!

"Yet you participate in society" energy. Part of progress is actively participating in changing things for the better within said structure not outsids it. Changing jobs shouldn't be the only option when a company pulls such a 180 like Dell. Friendships, business connections, are built over years and some of enjoy our jobs and want to be a part of Dell, but the recent activity from the company is repulsive.

I will leave but first I want to make the life of Mickey a bit more miserable too. He should feel just a bit how we feel.
