Thread regarding Saks Inc. layoffs

Major change coming to longstanding retailer in San Francisco's Union Square amid layoffs

A round of layoffs is also slated for the location, a spokesperson for the New York-headquartered chain told the San Francisco Chronicle on Thursday (the Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms). The number of employees impacted was not confirmed, but those who received layoff notices were offered severance packages, the spokesperson said.

Flip a coin, NM or Saks.

One will close in SF along with the other cities they are neighbors.

Saks Global is the new Sears. Richard Baker will bankrupt the company.

Reports are the store will be downsized from 5 floors to 2, and menswear will be eliminated. Sad ending to Saks’ more than 70 years in downtown San Francisco.
