Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

The culture has changed drastically

I've witnessed it firsthand during my ten years at XOM. The lack of concern for employees is as clear as day. They continually outsource and get rid of employees, yet the workload remains unchanged, which leads to widespread burnout. The relentless pressure has everyone stressed. What was once a reputable company has now devolved into a harsh work environment hated by most of us.

Culture has changed because Greatest generation and boomers have mostly retired. What is left is the pampered/woke/entitled generation. Most are smart and well educated but lazy. Need to fire these HC10 employees and hire those in India who are smart and hungary to get ahead

I wouldn't say the culture has changed now, but it has definitely been exposed now for sure. Before it was under the wraps and now it is open for all to know as the fake cultural cover has been exposed.

“ Profits these days in O&G are only driven by demand and cost cutting that's it.”

Isn’t this exactly the failure of our current MC? Failure to recognize the value brought by an experienced complex engineer for the accident and downtime that didn’t happen. Failure to trust geo and commercial staff that could have prevented a billion dollar overbid in Brazil. Failure to recognize the cost of yet another Wi---e Wheel strategy study on a topic that has already been thoroughly studied to death by good, knowledgeable advisors.

This (outsourcing) strategy has become a norm and a second nature in O&G generally speaking. This is because there is 0 innovation in terms of products and services these companies and sell and sell more to generate profits. Profits these days in O&G are only driven by demand and cost cutting that's it.

Now XOM is unique in this case wherein it is a absolutely toxic and a soul less organization that is built on the principle of dog eat dog and not based on merit and recognition of individual contribution. It is based on who like you (HiPo) and whether you fit the HR and Legal blueprint protecting company from all wrong doings.

Thought GE was bad, but XOM is worst, if not the same as GE.
