Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Work at Home Pharmacist Metrics Continue to Crush Pharmacist Spirits; Company Micro-Management continues to grow as stock price further declines

I have just recently been instructed as a WAH Pharmacist to document everything (time) moving forward by my supervisor, and anything greater than 5 minutes during a typical working day must also be documented and may affect adherence time or may involve coaching.

Can you say even more "Micro-Management" from Walgreens for Pharmacists?

Just when you thought Walgreens couldn't demand any more metrics...

Therefore, I would like to now see Upper Management with this company also be subjected to this same crazy current micro-management strategy.

I have to document my ur--e (p-e) breaks during the day. Ridiculous.

Moving forward:

I request to see Upper Management's documentation about their bathroom breaks too, just as we Pharmacist are required to do. Isn't this a nice program?

Come on CEO and CFO, you guys implement this stuff, are you also adherent?

Document it. We need to see it. Comply. Don't take more than 5 minutes however, or you will be non-adherent.

Can you continue to document every minute of your day, btw beside bathroom breaks?

We are expected to do so. So, we also expect your compliance! Let's see you day to day notes.

Does Upper Management feel that they are superior to us Pharmacist?

As a current working Walgreens pharmacist, In my opinion, Upper Management could not spend one day in a Retail or Call Center environment and survive.

We current Pharmacists are the strength behind this company and Upper Management make all the big money.

Upper Management doesn't do anything more special than Pharmacist in my opinion but yet they are compensated so much higher than the average working Pharmacist.

Something has to change. We (pharmacist) deal with the patient and it involves stress, sometimes anger and challenge.

Pharmacist spend a lot of money and time to get licensed and then we are not treated as professionals in the Retail Industry once Board Certified.

It's time for change. Fight.

I agree, micromanagement is beyond crazy. Not all lob wah pharmacists have to account for time greater than 5 minutes. I bet we work for the same lob. Completing the stupid form just wastes more time. Especially when one of the programs used, tracks your time and what you're doing. Just another way to beat down morale. As if all the unrealistic metrics and constant changes in sop's, that you are expected to know, but of course aren't given time to review, didn't do that already.

There was a reason Charles R Walgreen reqd any CEO or President to hold a Pharmacy Degree/Pharmacist License. And we’re seeing the result(s) of not following same in full bloom now.
Sad.

RE: How do you work for a company like this?...Not everyone has options. Some may have been with Walgreens for their entire career (hoping it'll get better) and would possibly be losing pay, seniority, and other benefits by jumping ship. Being close to retirement, I'll stick it out. Much of the stress Walgreens puts on its employees diminishes if you're prepared to leave at a moment's notice.

How do you work for a company like this? No morale it sounds like, they are diving, their stock is pathetic, losing business left and right, I can get my prescriptions online and cheaper. Lawsuits non stop, bad press non stop, yet you stay and just complain and complain. That is a sad life I would think. That is no way to live life in a setting like that yet you do. Why?

Unfortunately, the only thing surprising about all this is that you are allowed a whole 5 minutes that does not require documentation. If you do receive coaching for an adherence infraction or not meeting unrealistic performance metrics, will it be conducted by a supervising pharmacist or someone that barely graduated high school?
Walgreens is desperate and without the means (money) to provide positive motivation to its employees, it instead attempts to beat more production out of them through penalties and threats. Honestly, its been that way since Wasson's time, when the financial picture for Walgreens was far better.
Those with options will leave, as many already have. The result will be self-fulfilling, push people out while attempting to save money. More under-staffing. Lose customers. Less sales. Fire more employees out and so on.
In answer to your question as to whether upper management thinks they are better than pharmacists, I feel the answer would be a resounding YES!
