Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Moving on

Hi all,

I was laid off last week.
Turn this into a positive situation. Canon did not provide great benefits or pay. Sure, it was ok, but there are much better places to work out there.

Look into government jobs @ USAjobs.com. Security + benefits are about as good as you can get.
Unemployment may even pay for training/school.
You don’t want to be 60+ years old working ;)

My .02 on CSA - Management is awful

Good luck!

The sad thing is most corporations are like this now. It's all about numbers. Period.
There is no loyalty. I work hard and must work twice as hard if not more to make up for the loss of staff. I've seen some wonderful people laid off whilst others sit at their desk on personal calls and texting all day. Nothing is ever said or done. It's all about who you know and whose a-s you kiss.

As employees, we all have opinions on people and the workforce, including management. However, writing about disparities in management is truly sad. Layoffs happen in every company; as mature adults, why go after people, especially people who can help you on your next journey (Recommendations, etc.)? I understand what happened was horrible, but hopefully, you've grown as an employee and walked away with more vital skills; if you didn't, that's on you as an individual, and you only have yourself to blame. No, I'm not HR; I'm a working employee who works hard every day and fights for every opportunity that comes my way.

Yes by all means please add more responsibilities to the limping sales team who has to do everything but have the ability and time to actually sell. This company is ridiculously hard to work for, and they are doing nothing to fix it.

I agree management at CSA is awful. The VP of Business Operations is a total phony and fraud. He wants no interruptions to order processing, meter collections/billing, “world class” customer service (less than 5% abandoned rates) with a severely reduced staff. Do you think this guy will get off his rear end and lend a helping hand to get the work done?Lol, nope, he’s too important with his executive calls and meetings. His brilliant idea? Get everyone cross-trained on everything and give us lip service about being all one team. Yeah, like it’s so easy for everyone to just master how to do everyone else’s job overnight. He also wants sales to do their own reporting, that should go over well LMAO. He tries to act like a nice guy in town hall meetings, but I can tell he’s a weak leader who is only concerned about incentives that he must receive based on everyone else’s work and performance. It’s sickening and frustrating.
