Got email from HR, saying that my visa will not be renewed, my visa expires in November. I have to find a new job. They won’t pay severance.
Anyone got similar notice?

Octane said: “These low life H1Bs will all be deported and leave my beautiful country “
Octane eats dogs and rat to save a buck; he will deport peons (like OP) to make a buck
OP is a troll
Got email from HR…
I’m not sure I believe this. Broadcom HR sending emails? Does this actually happen? You should print it off and frame it as a collectors item.

What the hock is going on here?

H1Bs to get deported back to their sh\ithole country
You mean from the $h!thole??
H1Bs to get deported back to their sh\ithole country
The trade war is intensifying. 100% tariffs on EVs. Trump said he will make it 100% on everything imported from China. Trump will deport most of the temp aliens and illegal aliens. Broadcom has 30% of revenues in China. Apple and Broadcom are basically controlled by the Chinese. These companies will fade away gradually. Apple is spending 110 billion in share buybacks. Broadcom is also doing a lot of share buybacks and these are the last ditch efforts for insiders to pump and dump. They are not paying back debt. H1s should just prepare for the inevitable deportation regardless of who says what.
"sadly most Americans are poorly educated in comparison"
And don't have the work ethic - generally lazy
"high paying jobs in America should go to Americans, not to foreigners brought over here from east Asia."
Only if you are as good or better - sadly most Americans are poorly educated in comparison
Why would they pay severance if they can avoid?
No problem, you have 4 months to get another job
I’m embarrassed by the amount of ignorant posts in the responses. I do get the comments about how OP shouldn’t have been surprised given everything we’d heard just before/after the acquisition. But the hateful comments are uncalled for. It seems folks forgot that this country was built by immigrants. The same people probably complain about “illegals” and then cast dispersions on folks that “did it the right way” (mind you most of their ancestors didn’t have to do more than jump on a boat and come over). Hope OP lands on their feet.
As for the person that said India would employ homeless Americans in a few years… come on get serious… that doesn’t even make sense. Homeless people wouldn’t have the ability to get there nor would they likely be able to speak the language….
Good luck - don’t listen to the bigots here - there is a reason they are here spreading hate. You should be able to find a company to take over the visa but it’s definitely worth talking to an immigration attorney because depending on where you are in the process there may be different options for you.
i doubt India will get very far in a few years. If so, you guys will return fast and stop popping up everywhere but in India. So, let's be frank: looking around Silicon Valley and VMware, it does not seem that other races are the racist ones ,... eh. Be objective in your view, please.
Got fed up giving positive life lessons here but here probably I won't...if u r on h1b how the he-l you thought u will survive. I was part of cio team and knew I will be thrown out the very first day the transaction will close . People who don't learn from history are never the great learners. I was given transition offer still for me I prioritize my h1b status over severance..I took 20% salary cut also now happy..i made more money by investing than taking severance.you have to be very clear in your mind..I don't believe in luck..I always follow history and statistics and they are never wrong..getting another good job is never easy. Without any referral I applied 100places each application took almost 25 to 30 minutes received call from three and made in all three. If you have connections look for referrals..also check why severance can not be given in this case..if they are giving severance in case of Rto they why not here..it's absolutely unjustified.
H1B at VMware == Deportation
Don’t be a re--rd displaying your low iq to the world. There are only 60k plus H1B every year, not enough to take all high paying jobs. Getting high skilled people into country is good for America, at least that was the intention of H1B . The implementation of it is the problem where it has been exploited by a SOUTH ASIAN country, namely India. they in turn hire and promote their own. That’s as racist as it gets. Hence when you look at Silicon Valley you get the feeling, foreigners from India has taken our high paying jobs and squeeze everyone else out. So, it needs a rebalance is needed where h1b should be used for other sectors and not concentrated in IT. Indians here should also stop promoting and hiring their own while pointing fingers at others for being racist. Just look bloody around
It’s payback time: time for OP who took American high paying jobs to go home
Earned, not took. Getting an H1B isn’t easy.
Most employers would rather not deal with the time and expense if there was a well qualified person just sitting there waiting to be hired.
OP, this post probably got shared in a forum for incompetent sh-t heads who hate H1Bs. That’s why there is so much hate here. These ba----ds blame someone else for their impotence. They don’t realize that you will find another job that is willing to sponsor H1B for you while they moan and bi--h about H1Bs from their mom’s basement. Ignore these MFs and their hate and focus on building your skills and personal wealth.
It’s payback time: time for OP who took American high paying jobs to go home
In IT, some senior directors brought truck load of their buddies from
Bangalore office to PA. What an exploitation of H1B program. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking American jobs.
It is simple. H1B is cheap labor pool problem for tech companies. This has to end now.
OP, sorry for the blatant racism on this thread.
Find an immigration/employment attorney and sue them. They should pay you severance, if you are getting laid off. Remember, H-1B is just a visa that allows you to get into the country. What they are not doing is renewing your work authorization, which is akin to them saying “we don’t need you anymore, so we won’t renew your work permit”. That is definition of being laid off, which should make you eligible for severance.
high paying jobs in America should go to Americans
Only if they are qualified. Most aren’t.
There aren’t enough Americans studying STEM. So we will the gap with the best and brightest from wherever.
Maybe America shouldn't make applying to college a hunger games experience, that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, and then burdens you with debt for the rest of your life.
The US has a real problem to educate its young. The status quo isn’t working for anyone.
Try for job relocation to home country if that is an option.
With other things that are going to be happening in the USA in November, take the notice as a sign to get the he-l out of that cesspit of a country. It's one to view from a a far but not up close.
Broadcom showing it's "cheapness".
Doing layoffs without paying severance.
Meanwhile Americans on this board:
'''
We won't study hard STEM, but want the high paying jobs. And we won't do hard labour, so allow illegal low wage workers and give them citizenship, and kick out law abiding, tax paying, highly educated "East Asians".
'''
This isn’t about race but it’s about money; high paying jobs in America should go to Americans, not to foreigners brought over here from east Asia.
Octane said: “High paying jobs are rare; why giving them to foreigners brought over here?”
It’s only normal: H1B is a temporary work visa and peons must leave jobs to Americans
Octane said: “No more H1Bs”
It is known that Broadcom don't renew H1B, why is this a surprise? Start interviewing asap
Isn't it known issue? I thought everyone who will get H1B support already got notice.
