The company was financially better under Dan Schulman, since he was receiving only half of what the new CEO (Alex Chriss) is making now. Layoffs are inevitable because of it. Had the new CEO’s salary matched Dan’s, the initial round of layoffs in 2023 would’ve been enough. It’s all about greed and I’d say even with Dan’s salary of $23M, that would be enough to retire 20 life times (and that $23M doesn’t include bonus, stock compensation & other compensations). If your yearly salary is $43M (which is what Alex Chriss is making now, which doesn’t include any other types of compensation), it really doesn’t matter if he succeeds in making PayPal profitable, since he knows he could retire off that money after even just a single year (and we’re already halfway through the year).
Also, Indian labor is cheaper, but the quality of work is less. Also, most of the scam centers are located in India. I suppose this gives them an added edge in continuing scam call centers.
