Talks of Mid Management Cuts at BPX

Talks with ELT in London brought this up. Looks like the Reserves, Subsurface, and Business Asset discipline leads are on the chop block at L48.

ELT cited the thoughts that its an expense not needed right now when we can run things from Houston.

We got a lot of questions about why we even felt the need to be in Denver.

Big changes coming it seems.

Funny how the blue bloods of SJS and WL chirp about former bpx leadership (whom they only speculate over) when it was them who gave us the likes of Lord B, MC, BL (and his upwardly mobile ha--m) and sorted office romance VPs…… If you all are so savy and worthy of greater responsibility, why is it that your market performance has been sh--e for years, or is it always someone else’s fault?
You people must not have reflections, otherwise you couldn’t stomach looking into the mirror.

Wow sounds like DL ego and bad behavior even worse than it was back in the day in Golden. Tiger never changes its stripes. However he won the game by lining his pockets quite well being a yes man.

Makes sense. The top managers at bpx are basically middle managers that are redundant. They could do the job of the team leads and report straight up through to managers at larger bp.

I left bpx to go to big bp because the leaders are awful at bpx. I hope this is true.

Heard the whole IT/digital BPX group is getting cut and BP proper taking over. Pretty obvious- don’t need two ITs!

Its about time they clean house on DL's crew. Morale would improve drastically.

@1syx+1t84QPsq agreed. Too many entities for the size of the company

“Redundancy” is not a thing at bp. So many departments are understaffed and doing multiple jobs it’s crazy. If they want to cut head count they need to remove people from G&LCE and upper management. We are a top-heavy company.

The Denver office move was because DL wanted to be in Denver (where he grew up) vs. Houston. There was no true business logic behind it. Both the OKC and Denver offices were an absolute waste of money. Shame on bp for allowing such a free rein on this former “leader”.

The entire bpx LT would not be missed. No mid or exceptional skills there beyond managing upward.

So many metaphors in that last post.

Pretty sure they won't open the roof at Westlake to move the tree trunk table from Denver to Houston if this holds true. One of the many ways LL left an impact on BPX if you're in the know (wink wink)
