Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Stores start closing what month?

Do not post your stores location so no one can tie it back to your store, But with all of the first 50 notified do we know what month they begin?

I wonder is they all go at once?

My stores on the list but we have not been notified yet that I know of so we are probably next year.

They notified the first 50 on Tuesday. Nothing like creating a disengaged and grieving workforce for several days to finish out the quarter and season.

The first 50 closings won't be announced till January 2025 (end of fiscal year 2024). The liquidation sales begin a week after. Stores would close for good sometime in March.

Same process for next 50 closings, January 2026 (end of fiscal year 2025).

And once again for last 50 closings, January 2027 (end of fiscal year 2026).

The only reason stores were told is because the company wanted to inform investors due to the proxy fight. Informing 150 stores that they are going to be closing at a rate of 50 stores a year is not a great strategy if you want to keep them productive and engaged.

Our store is on the list and the managers in the building spend half their time applying for jobs or going on interviews. We have already lost two CXM's and our OOM since the announcement and finding new managers that are qualified isn't easy when you have to tell them that your store is closing. Thankfully, our Store Manager is great and she's a boomer who's just waiting around to get her severance and retire.

If your store is on the list, you will be told in December if your one of the 50 stores for this year. If not, rinse and repeat for 2025 and 2026.

They only told us we are on the list but thats it....its been silent since March? You think just for peace of mind they would give us an update about closings, or the buyout, or anything? Instead we are all just left with wondering minds and questions about our future but expected to run stores "business as usual"....
