If an employee is very experienced, skilled, competent, knowledgeable, creative thinker, problem solver, she/he is a burden because they are too expensive? So this company is aiming for 3-year olds paid in lollipops to dig it out of a hole? Good plan. If I was Dell, I would do exactly the same.

there's a lot of overlap in the base pay bands of i9 and i10. For the I10, the positive significant difference is the bonus, LTI, and absolute value of the annual pay raise. For the i10, the negative is the large bullseye on your back when WFR discussions are being held. If you're driving in multi-million dollar revenue streams, you're safe. If not....

I know of three from my team let go last year that all landed new jobs within a few months at large or small companies.
"good riddance of the lazy ones who have been fattened through the years!"

99% of i10 are not "very experienced, skilled, competent, knowledgeable, creative thinker, problem solver", but they are very expensive.

The market expects more from i10 level employee. Dell is just aligning its expectations to the market .
