Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Not laid off, but still affected by it

I don’t know how the rest of you are doing, but this particular round was very stressful and sad for me. I’m staying (for now), but I saw many good people who have been here for quite some time being let go. It made me think about how we are perceived, and how knowledge and experience are less and less valued. We accepted that someone else’s bottom line can validly override each one of us completely. I felt both diminished and offended watching the procession of people being discarded.

At ADP, nobody is safe. Young or old. But I will say, having worked there for 10 yrs, the target is/was on the backs of anyone there 5 years or more. All about cutting legacy employees because they see us as "too expensive."

EGV was sold in September and ADP is renting the building until they find a new building. That was communicated. The WFH population should be concern is that in ADPs back pocket for cost cutting.

My birthday is near the ADP FY end, and in the last years of my employment there coincided with the annual blood-letting.

Which, as someone who was "very senior" (their term) in terms of rank and salary, I always felt myself "in the sights."

It was an annual misery, that ruined my birthday.

And so when they offered "VERP," I was among the first to accept.

My boss, who was herself a bit creepily abusive (i.e., I'm single, you're single, let's hang at my vacay house) said "I can't believe you took the VERP!"

Well, then, you really ARE out of touch with how I feel about my job!

I really hoped they'd kick my ar-e to the curb at or before the FY year-end, so I'd have the whole summer to myself.

But no--- they decided to hang on to me literally almost as long as possible.

Guess I wasn't as useless as I was made to feel.

BUT, I had to watch an additional blood-letting, which was actually pretty small since one helluva lot of critical older folks VERP'd than ADP apparently ever expected when they made their unconditional, and perhaps foolish, offer.

Very few people left in EGV. “leadership” refuses to hire there so its slowly emptying out. They were very lucky someone wanted to buy the building.

400 some folks is not a big number considering it was across all b/u’s and the entire country, how many of them did you know that you’re so traumatized? In EGV I had trouble identifying anyone affected.
