So how has it been after the split into Atleos and Voyix? Everything is now separated, how’s things working out so far? Are things going good or bad?

When NCR took over Blockbuster the excitement in GHQ was unbelievable! The amount of people buying into the DVD rental craze was hilarious as streaming was already becoming a fast growing alternative. Such a money loser it’s amusing to remember those initial days when everyone was on board thinking how genius this was.
Budgets for 2025 looking grim.
sorry 12 years ago....
Dude start your own business...
So, after all that a net profit and 14 years ago to boot.

With blockbuster express, why would anyone buy into DVD’s when it was clearly a technology on the downside? The new technology was downloading movies, streaming was developing, and pay per view on cable. DVD was just alive with a weak pulse, so let’s invest in old tech, ok? The units that were deployed were big and expensive, the ones for parking lot use with heat and AC were off the charts expensive to even imagine at 1$ a rental to cover the cost of the unit, logistics to move it and install it, and technicians to un jam it/repair it, and another person updating the dvd media and content in the menus. It was never going anywhere. Typical of recent NCR to not forward think.
Blame that debacle on the wh-z kid of the time (SVP too wooo hooo) John G. Bruno. Went on to be a CEO losing money somewhere else.
NCR reported a 12 million dollar profit from the sale, but only after deducting write downs, taxes, and the cost of liquidating remaining equipment. But looking at the big picture, NCR purchased Blockbuster Express for 100 million. They reported a loss of 50 million in 2010 and a 60 million dollar loss in 2011. So best case is NCR broke even, but only if you ignore the two plus years of operational losses.
so "everyone" knew. so how much profit was made from that sale for 100M. you seriously don't believe it was sold at a loss do you. show me the proof.
Bad
Everyone knew Blockbuster kiosk were going to be a bust, but NCR went all in on them, selling them to Redbox didn’t even scratch the surface of what was lost. Again the upper management couldn’t see past their D—s
Redbox pays $100 million for NCR's Blockbuster Express
They are so deep in debt due to the last 2 mo--n’s of CEO. Spending money left and right buying new “toys” not really needed (crypto banking, DVD rentals, payment systems, moving WHQ, moving to Columbus, GA to manufacture then closing 5 years later.
No long term plans. Neither of them could see past their d..k.
How in the world did both companies get so much in debt. Talk about a large hole to climb out of ge-z. Bad management all around. Voyix just renewed with Walmart for 2 more years I guess that is a positive.
Not sure on other contracts including Macy’s. Atleos also dealing with more bank closures so less ATM work. Lakeland and Provident bank just merged so 22 locations closing in NJ but I’m sure there are other scenarios like this with online banking.
Cost me $3 for an Ice Cream! WTF!!
Current numbers show that Atleos is 3.04 billion in debt and Voyix is 2.6 billion in debt. Looks like both companies are in trouble.
GHQ has ice cream! Is that a benefit for returning to office?
The current climate is not good in the Field for both CEs supporting Voyix and Atleos. Several layoffs the past 2 weeks and now have a new TM who will look to change some things with my team. Trying to get another job as quickly as possible hopefully that helps answer your question.
There's currently an ice cream bar at GHQ. Voyix employees have to pay $3, but free for Atleos. 100% serious. Voyix more broke, confirmed.
"Everything is now separated"
Not so much. Still a lot of TSA work being done in both directions. Train wreck is the nice way to put it.
It’s been gravy for normal people, absolutely sh--e for the fcuktard customer engineers.
Since the split we have the same broke processes, the same broke business model, and the same broke layers upon layers of teams that don't talk to each other to help the customer. Since the split, the company doubled their same broke internal problems, and shipped the majority of roles overseas. Now please return to the office 5 days a week because all of that will magically go away and resolve on its own. This same problem has been around for 25+ years and multiple CEO's. This is 100% on leadership and their short sighted delusions of grandeur.
For Voyix, they laid off so many people before and after the split that salaried folks were working lots of OT (software development teams). Many people are burned out but most are not aware that they have that condition and are trying to hang on until they get laid off too. They are trying to force US employees to leave so they can hire in India and Prague. When I left a month or so ago it was toxic and a miserable place to work.
With OT very limited, this is the best work/life balance yet. Been around a long time as a generalist, so going specialized and doing 40hrs a week has been a good change. Some don’t like it as the old almost unlimited OT helped pay the bills, those days may not return.
From what I have seen and read, it had been a complete and total train wreck. Just waiting for the medics to pick up the last of the bodies.
