Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Expectations

So most of us still employed are now operating at skeletal level. People leaders from a Director level are now expecting everyone to work above and beyond their pay grade even though new reorg kept people who are dead weight.

If I am expected to work crazy hours and go above and beyond. I expect the same from ALL people leaders. The people leaders who like to preach the gospel only to leave early, “work from home days other than Friday”, or take trips when a email or a teams chat would have sufficed. I will still work hard but I need to see the same from our leaders. There are far too many “people leaders” who abuse and take advantage of their positions, while the IC carries the burden of keeping things running. I don’t understand why Sr management doesn’t see it. Too many supervisors/managers push off their responsibilities to the IC.

I am not naive I know we are going to be sold, but I am still committed to Crown to work hard because it’s just my work ethic. I don’t expect everyone to understand this.

Comments in this thread are amazing. They dictate that the company has rotted from within. I was part of another RIF, but my new gig is lightyears away regarding talent and responsibility. I don't see 2 underlings doing the work of 10 pseudo managers, directors, VPs, Grand Poohbahs, etc. People are competent experts. I also find it amazing that the some of the id--t managers at Crown, when I was there, are still present. This is despite the fact that a group of the so-called leaders caused numerous legal issues that Crown is falling on its face for. Regardless, keep your heads up people and go somewhere else, as the grass is more competent on the other side. It is refreshing to go into a meeting and the leader actually knows what you are talking about, instead of the standard glazed-over Crown look.

The biggest problems are in shared services - SP. On top of all the nepo, 90% of people promoted are soooo good at the corporate speak and a** kissing. Do nothing all day, literally, I've seen it time and again, and then parrot people above them in meetings. No actual production just the gift of gab. Con artists. They have the look and the ability to BS. No ability for independent thought or problem solving. Perfect for the egocentric mgmt. EMT has got to do something or it will never right the ship.

Employee12345: Therein lies the problem; meeting with your leader is the quickest way out the door. Especially at SP. Leader feels threatened and uses their network to tank you. I've seen it happen literally 100s of times over 12+ years. EMT needs to put some productive people with actual business experience incognito at the bottom and see how some of these nepo managers and supervisors and project managers operate. They're anchors around CCs neck.

There is an extreme disconnect between the EMT and ICs. That is a reflection on the directors and mgrs. It's like a game of telephone. By the time it gets to the bottom it is totally spun to keep the mgrs, directors and their relatives fat and happy. CC will never be what it could be as long as the nepotism continues. Even when it was Rockin it wasn't what it could be.

Be careful for of you accept the extra work that takes away from your personal hours you will expect to do that at all times until you are burned out. They will not rehire new people at lower wages if they feel you can do all the work. Been there, done that, and still got sent off the pooch. The hospital visits due to stress and burnout isn't worth it. Don't be like a coworker I know that is in ES who drove themselves to having a heart attack due to working long hours with little sleep. He literally did the job of 3 people after the layoff and 4 months later he was home doing rehab for 6 weeks to recover from a heart attack. All thos company did was assign his work to another person with no new hires. That person begged to be laid off on this round and was denied. He just put in his notice because he is now burned out.

90% of PL’s are ‘Unicorns’ as our office calls it. Never to be seen except teams online (green on their phones) but never respond timely, make excuses why, barely answer questions, shut their door when in office 2 hours whooptie!
Last year. A lot of these mid-level workers and first level supervisor or people leaders all of a sudden started participating in department calls when you never heard from them for years. Clearly someone told them to participate more as they were being looked at. We all have special circumstances at home that need us, but some people get the special treatment, they work too far from the office or they have small kids or whatever, but they get all the bene’s. The person responding above to the main post. Sounds like they are one of those people who are getting away with barely working, but don’t want to be called out. I’m used to nepotism and people that don’t pull their weight and slacking bosses, but the Phoenix office is truly one of those problem children. People run their businesses from their phones, come and go for two or three hours at a time, use gym on company time, of course no one‘s gonna say anything to their people leader that they think they are lazy or cheating the company. What is this person thinking 123456..
The main post is spot on.

Employee 123456 is angry. He/she must be part of the pigeons perched up at the coop at the Doral office in Miami. Must have been bullied in middle school and has a position now that can bully others to feel good about himself/herself. It appears the behavior of ruling by fear and intimidation at CC continues. People like this was the downfall of Clown Castle.

Dead weight? You looking in the mirror? Why do you have to try and put others down in order for you to try and make a point?

If you weren't let go, then in your own words, leadership made the wrong choice and kept dead weight right?

Crazy hours, huh? How many is that really? Crazy to put in the bare minimum of 9 hrs including a 2 hr lunch?

My leaders are great in my market. Up front about everything, they trust all their workers to do the job at hand. They don't micro-manage and they aren't in your face.

I dare you to call out the leader initials you speak of. What market are you in?

Maybe you applied to be a leader and kept getting shot down for the role? Well? Act like a leader, lead by example and do the work.

Why don't you have a meeting with your leader and express your thoughts and see if they are in alignment with what really happens?

Let's stop using this forum to bash folks. Keep this positive. Keep it factual and related to layoffs...
