Oak Court Mall Macy’s listed for sale

Memphis - Oak Court Mall Macy’s listed for sale.

The store has been stripped of most major brands and the home store is only soft goods. A far cry from the 100 million in annual sales the store produced in 2004-2005. Once a higher volume store than Lenox in Atlanta when in was under the RLG banner…

Wolfchase is a high performer and will be a go-forward location.

Not a Macy's employee or frequent shopper but came here to see the latest news and saw this. As a native of a town less than one hour from Memphis, Oak Court was a very high end mall until about fifteen years ago. Goldsmith's was the flagship Memphis store purchased by Macy's at some point in the early 2000s. I haven't been inside since the chance but know the mall itself has deteriorated significantly so I wouldn't be surprised to see the store vanish.

The other Memphis location is at Wolfchase Galleria, which was built in the late 90s but has suffered the same fate as many malls. The Cheesecake Factory location at Wolfchase accounced it's closing just last week so who knows what the future holds for that mall period. Wouldn't surprise me to see that location disappear as well.

Who would buy it? Alot of malls have main anchor stores empty and for sale for years with no one interested.

Definitely a store slated for closure soon! If the store looks like cr-p and the inventory is emptying out, it’s gettin the axe. The high-end brands not being present anymore is just icing on the cake!
For all those asking about which stores are closing, you can pretty much tell which stores are staying and which stores are getting the boot just by walking around. If a store as well kept, and looks like it’s actually being remodeled you know it’s safe for now. I went to one recently that had all of this plus a nice Polo Ralph Lauren section. Probably one of my all-time favorite men’s sections of a department store. When Macy’s really pays attention to something, they make it nice.

Wonder if Memphis is targeted for one of the smaller format stores in the future?
Guess if the entire company goes belly up, then it's not in the cards anyway.

Huge store on one of the best corners in town. They did it to themselves, letting the store go down the way it did. Everything was preventable with proper merchandising for the high end clientele in the neighborhood. $1M+ homes just blocks away and they can't even drive into the cratered parking lot. WHAT A SHAME!
