Regular folks that shop the stores work Monday through Fridays morning until 4-5pm and are off the weekends. No one is shopping in stores during those hours.
@kpof+1t3OBDaV You are definitely a disgruntled manager who gives your life to Macy’s. But us low folk making nothing are not dummies. Good luck losing good employees and continuously having to hire anything that shows up from the street. Now we have to give up nights too?? Guess what ? I don’t work nights due to my other job 😉 2 can play the same game.
It’s retail! You are supposed to be available nights, weekends, and holidays. If you don’t like it, GET OUT!
August has 5 Saturdays and 4 Sundays a total of 9 week-ends days and now you can only pick 1 day to be off! Yes, this is bs.
Does this apply to all store employees including captains, managers and other store executives?
Why are employees only finding out about this when they attempt to schedule unavailable time off?
To all the nay sayers - this isn't a complaint it's a concern. Take time to recognize the difference. You tell your children you can only spend 1 week-end day with them this summer when you had all ready made plans and did not receive any notice that a change was coming. Yes, we all know if you aren't happy in your current job you can quit.
Very very sad how this change is rolling out.
To the people telling me to "calm down" and you "probably take every wknd off" you're completely wrong. I have spent 16+ years for a company that I worked every single weekend for unless I put unavailables once in a while. To do this to hard working associates instead of letting go of the people who call out or abuse the system is so wrong!!! And I can give two $hits if you disagree. I can't tell you how much I've missed out through the years for so little pay. So yes I will be looking for a new job, I'm done spending my life at a company that can give a. Damn about me or anyone for that matter.
Our store is so understaffed that nobody even gets fired for failing to show up for their shift. The functional schedule has so many red dots indicating a person called out on the weekends and its always the same people and nothing happens to them. On the rare weekend that I am not scheduled, I won't even answer my phone because its always the store calling and asking if I can come into work. $15 bucks an hour is chump change in our market and any quality applicants apply where the starting rate is $18 or more an hour.
It's a good thing we have the food pantry in the break room for employees who can't afford to but food.
Calm down. There was a glitch (like every day there's a glitch of some kind in our systems). The load is going to be a week behind. You will get your three days!
Thank goodness somebody is finally making decisions based on what's best for the business. Those of us who work here and know what it takes to be successful are so tired of watching some of our highest paid employees work the system to avoid working weekends when we need them the most. Instead we've had to sit by and watch as these employees used individual half PTO days and unavailable days to only work during the week when its slow. This has left stores during the busiest times staffed with mostly part time, flex, and new hires, all because we were more focused on keeping people happy than taking care of business. Better late than never ....keep up the good work!
Unavailable days are changing. Previous poster is correct. You can use just one for a Saturday or Sunday. We need the colleagues on the weekends. If you don't like it, find a Monday thru Friday job!
There was a message on the homepage saying there was a delay in loading in August unavailable days..let’s all calm down!
Change is you can use one per period on a Saturday or Sunday so weekends are covered. Makes sense.
A training alert on this might be nice.
Heard you still get 3 unavailable days but only 1 can be on a weekend day instead of 2.
As a manager I have heard absolutely nothing of any changes.
just macys trying to railroad everyone out
August probably hasn't opened up yet, but yes, UA days are changing. I can't recall what it's changing to but you should ask your manager
