Is it that there are more talented people? Or am I not good enough?

"only to choke and then have some subordinate places under them that they can offload the difficult work onto"
Haha oh man so relatable. I thought I was the only one dealing with that.
Management be like, "Well that guy doesn't attend his schedule meetings or do any assigned work but he did work at pwc once and that will look good in an email so let's promote him."
Truist doesn’t promote from within unless it’s due to nepotism and favoritism. I’ve watched completely incompetent people get promoted into roles for which they have no training or certification right and left, only to choke and then have some subordinate places under them that they can offload the difficult work onto in order to cover their a-s and support management’s decision to reward them for being their buddy.
Titles impact PTO, so they do matter in that regard. Not reflective of ability that is for sure.
EJ was an SVP. In the end, it didn't help. Neither did being mediocre, sure, but being an SVP should have saved her, right? That was the hBBT way. So many of the Old Ways are dying in this merger.
I don't think AVP means anything. Most people in IT are VPs
"None of those titles mean anything. I’m an SVP and it doesn’t mean cr-p"
You're just not doing it right.
I'm an AVP and I don't have a real high school diploma, that sh!t doesn't mean beans.

One does not become an AVP through any conscious acts or deliberate deeds. If you are AVP material, it is because you were BORN as AVP material. Much as a lowly caterpillar is destined to one day become a glorious, beautiful butterfly, the transformation of a groveling, sniveling bank peon to confident, handsome, intelligent, and all-knowing AVP is simply a given for the blessed, chosen few. Be patient, friend. If AVP is your destiny, it will happen in its own time. You cannot bring it into existence by sheer force of will. Good luck, my friend. I hope one day to see you in the heavenly, golden radiance of our AVP paradise!
as an AVP that was laid off, trust me, the title means NOTHING. they use to have an officer dinner thing when kelly was still there, but that was the extent of it.
There is no rhyme or reason. It took me 20 years.
